Leyburn and District

Welcome to the Leyburn and District u3a

Leyburn u3a celebrated its 10th Anniversary Last Year.

If you are no longer in full-time employment now's the time to make the most of your life.

The u3a gives you the chance to explore the activities you have always wanted to do and to make new friends.

u3a is a nationwide organisation based on local groups providing opportunities for retired and semi-retired people to come together and develop their interests.

Who can join u3a?

Anyone in the Third Age can join u3a. This includes people who are working part time. We are not a University in the traditional sense. We don't study for qualifications. We just enjoy taking part and meeting people.

No qualifications are required to join, and none are given. There is no lower age limit for membership. Join an exciting self-help learning organisation!

It's all voluntary - members share their knowledge and experience with others in interest groups, running informal activity sessions covering a wide range of subjects and activities.

What sort of things can I do?

There are learning opportunities such as Languages, DIY and Crafts; Outdoor pursuits such as Walking, Croquet and Cycling; Social events and Outings are also on offer. Have a look at the Groups page to see the full range

We also have a monthly meeting at the Leyburn Arts and Community Centre where we have visiting speakers who give talks on a varied range of interesting subjects.

How do I join?

Contact the Membership Secretary for more details of Joint Membership and Associate Membership. Please use the 'contact' link here or at the top of the page.

Membership fees are set at £12 per annum for an individual and £20 for joint membership.

Why not come along as a guest to one of our meetings or activity Groups to see what we do. You will be most welcome.

The Third Age Trust.

The Trust is the national representative body for the u3a movement in the UK (Reg Charity No 288007) providing a wide range of support services to the individual u3a branches and members, for example: insurance, copyright licensing, legal advice, resources for group activities, on-line tutored courses.
